“Why is it that a man who calls himself black (actually Cablinasian according to the Tiger himself) can’t bring himself to cheat on his wife with a black woman?” asked Sharpton while speaking to a group of supporters in Harlem. “What does it say to young black girls everywhere when you pass them over? Shame on you, Tiger Woods. What would your daddy say?”

Sharpton, who has long championed taking black women as mistresses, said that today’s black athletes need to stop neglecting black women when it comes to extramarital affairs, and should follow the examples of positive black role models such as Jesse Jackson and Martin Luther King, Jr., both of whom cheated on their wives with black women. The reverend Sharpton also stressed that cheating with African-American women would help the black community financially by giving black girls the chance to sell their stories to tabloids and gossip magazines.

In closing Mr. Sharpton had this to say: “I’m not asking you to cheat on your wives, I’m just asking you to give back to your own community.

Usually I do not watch or comment about any award shows but I will have to make an exception for the MTV Video Music Awards that aired last Sunday. Before you bolt off, I promise not to talk about the winners or losers or what who wore or any of that nonsense. I will not even talk about the incident that happened with Mr. Kanye West and Ms. Taylor Swift but I will talk about the aftermath of that incidence. For those that might not be in the know, Kanye West is one of the most successful rappers in the United States and Taylor Swift is an up-and-coming country singer and yes, Kanye is black and Ms. Taylor is white. During the MTV Awards show, Mr. West stormed the stage when Taylor won the “Best Female Video Award” to protest that Beyonce should have won instead. Everybody agrees it was rude and that Mr. West is a “jerk ass” for what he did but like I mentioned earlier, he is a rapper and not a boy scout. I can’t say that I was surprised by his outburst but I have been very much surprised by the hateful chatter that is coming from the blogosphere.

Dumb Nigger this! House Nigger that! Nigger monkey! ….. I simply do not have the time or the desire to list them all. Not to let a good crisis go to waste, I think this would be an opportune time to get a little education on the word nigger. According to dictionary.com the definition of the word nigger is:-

The term nigger is now probably the most offensive word in English. Its degree of offensiveness has increased markedly in recent years, although it has been used in a derogatory manner since at least the Revolutionary War. Definitions 1a, 1b, and 2 represent meanings that are deeply disparaging and are used when the speaker deliberately wishes to cause great offense. Definition 1a, however, is sometimes used among African-Americans in a neutral or familiar way. Definition 3 is not normally considered disparaging—as in “The Irish are the niggers of Europe” from Roddy Doyle’s The Commitments—but the other uses are considered contemptuous and hostile.

As we can all see, the word has many definitions. The first definition has had most of its sting neutralized over the years as black people have embraced and made it part of their lingo as a form of greeting. Therefore, when used in this definition it not offensive especially to black people.

Most racists and haters wanting to offend usually go with the second definition.

In this definition, it is used in an offensive way to describe people that you might think are inferior or stupid or at less human regardless of race. We can therefore have “white niggers (also called white-trash)”, “latino niggers”, “Asian niggers” or whatever you pick to use it with. The catch is, if you are going to use it correctly in this definition, the user MUST be doing or feel like they are doing better than the person they direct the insult at. For examples, president Obama would not be a nigger under this definition. He would however be justified to use the term on a majority of Americans, not that I think he would as he is a classy guy. Kanye West on the other hand is not a nigger either under this definition and he would be justified to use the term on a majority Americans, whites included and I do think he is capable of doing it as he has no class. So for all those tweeting and blogging about how Mr. West is such a nigger, you need to re-evaluate as you might be the real niggers.

What is the latest controversy brewing in the big US of A? Let me help you, it is not the economy. Reports coming in now indicate that the recession is starting to cede and we might be on our way to recovery after coming so close to a catastrophic failure of our economy. Though I do not recommend breaking out the champagne as yet, it looks like the economic stimulus worked. Those that opposed it, the Republican Party, should be red in the face right about now with embarrassment. But amazingly they are not, they are now shamelessly going on the record to say that the same would have happened if we had all sat on our hands. These people are never embarrassed.

Enough with the economy, have you all heard that president Obama is going to be speaking directly to American students on the first day of school asking them to work hard, take personal responsibility and stay in school but to stay off drugs ?

“Yeah, yeah … we have all heard it and we think that it is a good thing. So where is the controversy?”

I didn’t think there was any controversy either until I went into the blogosphere. The news posts and blogs on the internet are overflowing with furor from parents not wanting the speech to be broadcast to their kids. School districts in Texas, Missouri, Wisconsin, Virginia, Illinois (President Obama’s home state) and Minnesota have chosen not to air the President’s speech to the school children. In some states that are showing the speech, some parents have indicated that they will have their kids skip school on that day. Parents are now encouraging kids to skip school. Do people even know what parenting is all about anymore? When I was going to school, I had to be almost dying for my parents to let me skip school. Could someone check to see how well these parents did in school themselves? Could it be a case of a bunch of high school dropouts raising a new generation of high school dropouts? It is a vicious cycle with no end in sight. If I could play the devil’s advocate for a moment, it might not be all that bad to have some people drop out of school. Not everybody is cut out for school. Doing mountains of homework and factoring the polynomials and learning about Russian history is not for the vain hearted. Besides if everybody excelled in school, where would the manual laborers and strip pole dancers come from?

The comments from the readers are just as laughable if not sad. Here are a few of the choice comments that I came across during my quest:-

Mark Bazemore replied:

I found the thought of allowing our children to listen to the National Socialist currently occupying the White House very disturbing, and Nathan, if you would care to compare resume’s to see who has actually done something for this country, I am ready! Are You?

MCPO USN Retired. Let’s talk, Nazi!

Jim Stewart Says:

Kevin - the speech has that “Dear Leader” feel. Going over the heads of parents and advising millions of students how to conduct their lives has not been done like this before. Is the president to be a life counselor for students?

mel247

7:51 AM

While the NY Daily News and the rest of the media and print press continue to kiss Obama’s rear-end I have a question, will he deliver his talk in English or Ebonics?????

Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=71093#ixzz0QKuwin8o

There are thousands more but I simply do not have the time to post them all. I would however like to respond directly to that last comment from mel247. I would guess that the president would use the same language that he used to soundly beat McCain in three televised debates last year. The same language he used when he spoke to the graduating class at Notre Dame University, you get the idea mel247. Call it Ebonics or whatever you want to call it but it seems to be working.

I have no doubt that president Obama was aware of the opposition he would face when he signed up for this job. I also believe that it will take more than some ignorant disrespect from a fringe minority to break him. This is a man that took on the Clintons and won. With a name like Obama, he soundly beat the team of mavericks, Sarah and John. He reminds me of another great American who stepped up to the plate and did what he had to do amidst a similar atmosphere of hate and cheap propaganda, Hank “The Hammer” Aaron?

The healthcare debate is getting heated. Everyone is trying to be heard but nobody is willing to listen. “Death panels” to euthanize granny and giving healthcare to illegals are just some of the hot-button issues being passionately argued and counter-argued by members from both sides. As you can expect, there has been a lot of hollering and finger wagging from both camps. A few harsh words have been exchanged. One camp calls the other leeches and the other camp retorts by calling them ignorant haters. The President has not been spared either. Hitler, fascist and socialist are a few of the new names that the President has acquired in his brief six months in office. Some people are already complaining that the President’s names are getting too confusing and we should probably stop assigning him new names. Barack Socialist Hussein Hitler Obama is unfairly long and confusing to most Americans. Funny thing is all the shouting and hollering is not having the desired effect to some and they have therefore decided to up it a notch by bringing guns to these town hall events. “What are they talking about anyway at these town halls? Healthcare… that has nothing to do with the 2nd amendment but I will bring my gun anyways and brandish it because it is legal to do so in the state that I live in…. “

As much as I respect the fact that these gun toting protesters want to exercise their right to bear arms, I would much rather that they exercised some common sense. Would these same people light up a cigarette in a vapor filled room, just to prove they have the right to smoke? I am a big advocate of the 2nd Amendment and the right to own a gun as a means to protect oneself and/or others from marauding thugs and bullies but I decry the use of a gun to intimidate or imply threat of violence on innocent people.

Have the armed protesters only just become aware of their right to carry arms in the last six months or so? I am trying to remember what else could have happened within the last six months but my memory is not what it used to be. I remember there being a historic election in November and an inauguration of a new president in January but I am not sure whether the two are even related. Oh wait, the president that we inaugurated back in January was black. I think it is starting to come together for me now. Well, the gun-toting protesters will be quick to respond that their newly found hobby of arming themselves to presidential town hall events has nothing to do with the color of the president. It is not their motive to imply violence to put a black man in his place. That is the work of the Klan. So why bring guns to presidential events? Were there any guns present when then President Clinton signed the assault weapons ban? Were there any guns at Carter’s or Bush’s (both of them) town hall meetings?

It is clear that the gun toting protesters are not there to add any value to the healthcare debate. They are there to put on a show. How about making the show a little more fun for everybody then? How about thickening the plot a bit by throwing in a few more armed protestors into the mix? Let us bus in a in a few good men who happen to be armed members of the Black Panther Party to one of these meetings. You know the Black Panthers are big on that open-carry thing. Maybe we should have tried this during the last administration. A bunch of armed Black Panthers should have been there working the crowd as then President Bush was giving his “Mission Accomplished” speech. Why didn’t anybody think of this during the2008 presidential campaign? I would have loved to see Sarah Palin’s face trying to make that “pallin’ around with terrorists” speech while a group of armed Black Panthers were watching in the wings. What would have been the reaction to that? Would the NRA have come to the rescue of the Black Panthers? Has the NRA ever defended the Black Panthers?

Common sense should dictate that the way to have a civil debate would be to be respectful of all people involved. Brandishing a gun at anybody’s face will just kill the civility of the debate if not more. Maybe common sense is not so common and trying to have a debate with some people is like trying to have a conversation “with a dining room table” as one congressman would say.

If you happen to call the United States your home, you have probably heard by now that the convicted felon, dog murdering SOB Michael Vick is now a Philadelphia eagle. Yep, you heard me right. He is back in the NFL and the millions of $$ that goes with it. As you can imagine, there is so much outrage out there in the small and big towns of America. Dog lovers are outraged that Michael Vick should be given a second chance. There are thousands of angry people out there and they are letting their anger show on the internet. Here are a few of comments I was able to pull from the internet:

Once again, our justice system fails us!! The time he served was a slap on the hand…Of course, he admits to his failure and guilt - he got caught!!! This is just another sign of how we reward bad behavior!!!
For God’s sake - please don’t give him a dog!!!

— Carol

Any company that advertises or supports the Philadelphia Eagles is a compny (sic) I won’t buy from.

— Beverly

Michael Vick hung dogs from trees and electrocuted them with jumper cables. Thanks, Eagles. What a great role model for the kids.

— Tony Mendosa

These are just but a tiny fraction of the angry mob out there baying for Michael Vick’s blood. I was inclined to condemn Michael as well but not one to go with the crowd, I decided to do my own research. I decided to dig a little deeper into this. I went deep on the internet. I googled and binged everything Michael Vick. I came across all kinds of funny tidbits about the man. Did you know that he was born holding a football? Or that he used to love bulldogs when he was about five?

I was getting tired and frustrated as I was not getting the information I was looking for. Would I have to use Yahoo? I was on the verge of giving up when I hit gold. Bingo… or bing or eureka, I found it. I found the picture that would clue us all on why this man turned out to be a monster. What could have triggered his deep hatred dogs? It was there right in front of my eyes. It is true that a picture is worth a thousand words as this one spoke volumes.

I have shared the picture for all to see. I now understand the man Michael Vick better than I did before. I understand why he did what he did to them dogs. He got a shot to exact his revenge and he took it? Can you really blame or hate him for that?

According to Malkin, the shoes are are made by French design house Lanvin and come with a price of $540. Though how the Obamas spend their money is none of my business I have decided to crunch the numbers for Mrs. Malkin and her followers.

Michelle Obama’s husband makes about $400,000 per year.
There are 52 weeks in a year therefore $7600 per week
If working 40 hours a week then you get about $190 per hour.

Therefore to answer Michelle Malkin, Mr. Obama earned enough money in the first three hours on Jan 20th 2009 to afford to splurge on his wife. Any more questions?

Time for a little house cleaning.

The election of Barack Obama as the 44th president of the United States was of special significance to the country as a whole and especially so to the black community. President Obama now joins the ranks of Jesse Owens, Hank Aaron and countless other black luminaries that have shattered the “black inferiority myth” into thousands of tiny pieces. Not too long ago, having a black man ascend to the most powerful office in the world would have seemed an impossible dream to millions of African-Americans around the country. On Jan 20th 2009 that impossible dream was fulfilled. More importantly, hope has been unleashed in the hearts and minds of millions of young African-Americans all across the county. African-American kids can now dare to dream that they too could be the president of the United States of America someday. The responsibility of nurturing those dreams lies with the collective members of the black community. It is not an easy task and I have to admit my skepticism on whether the black community is up for that challenge.

The challenges we face in the black community are real and many. Keeping hope alive in the hearts and minds of our youngsters is going to require the community as a whole to confront those challenges head-on. It is not a secret that our communities are overrun by dope dealers, hustlers, pimps and other kinds of vice. Our schools are failing. The infrastructures in our communities are failing due to neglect. We have become numb to all the violence, deaths and destruction that are far too common in the black neighborhoods. Our kids want to grow up to be thugs and hustlers. We have songs that glorify the ghetto and thug life. We drink and dance to these songs and pretend that everything is alright in our community. We continue to bury our head in the sand; we have indeed become the proverbial ostrich.

Perhaps this is an ideal time for the black community to awake from its stupor. It is the high time we did a little house cleaning. We must start with insisting on better and quality education for our children. While the fact that president Obama is black is inescapable, what often is not discussed enough are his other achievements. He is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, a community organizer, a published author of two best sellers, a US Senator to mention but a few. I would like to think that the reason he was able to achieve what he has achieved is because opportunities to do so were available to him. We should do no less for our kids. We need to provide them with the same opportunities that president Obama had growing up. We need to get involved in our schools by attending PTA meetings and providing any kind of assistance that we can afford to provide. We must demand and insist on qualified individuals to teach in our schools. The quality of our education is something that we will and should not compromise on.

We will certainly fail in our endeavor to clean up our communities if we do not start with our families first. We should work to raise well adjusted kids that will grasp the opportunities that this great country has to offer. We should also grasp at those opportunities as well. We should strive to become better neighbors. We need to look out for each other. We need to put the dope dealers, the pimps and the hustlers on notice that they are no longer welcome in our communities. We have to stand up to these bullies and let them know that no amount of threats or intimidation will deter us from cleaning out the trash from our communities. This should actually be easy. The thugs that terrorize our communities are not outsiders. They are members of our families. We know them really well. We went to school with them. We have spent time with them. Some of them are our sons and daughters, brothers and sisters or nephew and nieces. Hiding these criminals in our midst because they are family is what has gotten us into the mess that we are in right now. That will have to change. Tyrone, Andre, Shanice or Ebony need to know that their criminal activities will no longer be condoned. As good citizens of the black community we should report Tyrone if he is a dope dealer or Shanice if we have information linking her to a crime. In the name of cleaning up our community, it is our duty to report him/her to the police regardless of whether he/she is our friend, brother or sister or uncle. The “stop snitching” creed needs to be laid to rest. Failing to report these criminals that are a menace to the community only leaves us and our family members at risk of being their next victims.

The leaders in the black communities need to speak out more about our responsibilities in cleaning up our communities and making them decent places to live and raise a family. I commend minister Farrakhan for constantly driving this point home in the majority of his speeches. I just hope that the black community would listen. The power to transform ourselves and our communities is in our hands. The shameful state of our communities is not due to slavery or anything that the white man did or is doing. The blame for this one is squarely on our heads. We should not expect an outsider to resolve our problems for us. It is time to kill the slave mentality. It is time to roll up our sleeves and start confronting these challenges.

A helpful guide on how to roll over your 401k to an IRA

Post-Job-Loss Agenda

How to roll your 401 to an IRA

One of the first items on your post-job-loss-agenda should be determining the state of your finances. First, this is an appropriate time to analyze the money that you have at hand and how much you need to fund your basic needs for the projected time-frame. Secondly, this is also the best time to determine how to handle the money in your 401K. If you already have a financial planner you may want to talk to him or her about your 401K and determine which way to go. Depending on the returns and other factors in your existing plan, they might recommend that you leave your 401K in the same plan. On the other hand, complete pullout from your plan might be required by the plan. In that case, it will be necessary to rollover your 401K to an individual IRA.

What is an IRA?

An IRA which stands for an Individual Retirement Account, provides either a tax-deferred or tax-free way of saving for retirement. There are many different types of IRA accounts which to choose from, depending on the financial goals and situations of each individual, though traditional and Roth IRAs are the most common choices.

Determine if your 401K carries any restrictions

Call your existing financial institution to determine if they have any restrictions on transferring from your plan after you have been terminated. Some plans have certain guidelines which might restrict you from transferring your money for a set duration of time. It will be nice to find out how much time you have before you embark on a quest for a brokerage firm.

Choosing a bank, brokerage firm or mutual fund company to rollover your 401K into

I am a big fan of recommendations and especially when it comes to matters concerning my finances. Call some of your friends or family members who have had to rollover their 401K in the past and get recommendations on which financial institutions they are currently using. This is by far the best way to get the most sincere unbiased opinion. Some of the questions you should ask about the financial institution might be,

- What fees are involved?

- How is the service? (Especially after you have rolled over)

- Which other companies did you look at?

If you do not have any friends or family who can give you insightful information on this topic, then I recommend that you visit some reputable websites and read reviews and recommendations. Some of my personal favorites include,

- Fool.com

- Personal Finance

- Mint.com- Financial blogs

-Yahoo Finance - News, financials articles, calculators and guides

Others:

Moving your funds

Once you have selected which brokerage firm to go with, you are now ready to transfer funds in your 401K plan to to the new IRA at the selected brokerage firm. Depending on the companies involved, there might be some paperwork involved before the money can be fully transferred. Follow along in the process until the money has been transfered into your new account. Now you can relax before you start looking for a new job.

You’ve lost your job, now what? | Back - Next | Who is hiring?

I feel as though there are so many people out there, but I can not relate on a good dynamic to most of them. I meet people in class, but they don’t give me a second look until they see me at some exciting restaurant or concert venue outside of class. Why is it that the dynamic that we meet people on is so important in regards to how we are going to be treated in the future? Do I look like a typical urbanite? No. Though I blatantly would never fit in with the sorority group, either. So I sit at a coffee shop with a book, and I have a Mac. This makes me a ‘trendy hipster’ in the eyes of some. What does that even mean? I’ve heard a lot of my friends labeled as ‘indie’, but I also look at some other people who are labeled as ‘indie’ who are nothing like my friends. I have this fantastic hodgepodge of friends who don’t really fit into a specific group. They are not scene, goth, preppy, punk, indie, alternative, wholesome, or religious. They are individual people. I am eternally hopeful that I’ll meet more people like them. What does a label have to do with it? Perhaps I’m not great at expressing myself in an art form, but being math driven does not reflect my curiosity and respect for galleries and intricate discussions that may or may not be about something ‘important’. Everybody has a view and a will to say it. So people need to say what they are thinking because I may judge you before you open your mouth, and you have the power of words to change my mind.

I do honestly feel that these college years are going to be some of the best of my life. I do not want to waste one more moment. I study a lot. School is very important to me, but at the same time I count down the minutes until the weekend where I can drink and smoke and be the dumb reckless young person nobody sees me as Monday-Thursday. I want the adventure that is advertised to me in the movies. I want to trek through the woods for half an hour to get to this insane party in the middle of no place. I want to meet new people. I want to be charming when I’m not drunk. I never want to feel awkward. I want to feel that feeling of ecstasy everyone feels while sitting around your friend’s basement laughing until your stomach hurts about something you already forgot about.

So I’m trying to write this novel of my life. Interesting things all happen so quickly that I struggle to get them down on paper. I’m too lazy to write about what just happened, so I keep a small notebook in my purse to write snippets that I would otherwise forget about. The names will be changed, but the story line will remain the same except greatly exaggerated. Here I am, frustrated, because I can’t pour out my thoughts on paper in the same way that I narrate things in my head. I am taking this time instead to ramble on about other things on my mind. I often wonder if other people might feel the same way.

So this was my forum for the night. It’s just a little bit, but maybe the life of the party is out there nodding his or her head in agreement. Perhaps you are more on the shy side. If so, I encourage you to get out there and have the best time of your life. Just make the decision to have fun when you walk out the door. Talk to someone random.

Or maybe you should all just remember that the blonde chick sitting at the coffee shop with her laptop is not trying to be ’scene’ or trying to fit a stereotype she doesn’t look as though she could fall under. Maybe she just likes to drink coffee and change up the atmosphere. Maybe you should talk to that girl. She may look interesting and unique but less flashy and trendy–not look like typical cool, but she’s way badass. Stop the stereotypes and get to know the people who probably know more about the exciting event happening on a random Tuesday night.

I just like people who have some of their stuff together and know what’s going on. That’s what’s up.
